Founded by Norwich-based painter Claire Oxley, The Pimpernel Gallery grew out of more than thirty years immersed in art - as both an educator and a practising artist.

The idea was simple: to create a space that shows exceptional contemporary works chosen for their beauty, originality, and aesthetic excellence.

Launched in 2025 and debuting at Art Fair East, Pimpernel Gallery presents a handpicked collection of contemporary art from both UK-based and international artists.

Each piece has been selected for its craftsmanship, and visual strength, whatever the medium - art that feels fresh and distinctive, yet timeless in appeal.

At Pimpernel Gallery, we believe that art should be both personally engaging and visually enriching. The gallery celebrates artists whose work carries integrity, imagination, and a sense of joy in making - creators who are unafraid to take risks and reveal something genuine through their materials and ideas.

We take pride in presenting carefully sourced, characterful pieces that stand slightly apart from the mainstream.

This is art chosen with an artist’s eye: works that surprise, engage, and bring a space to life.

Every piece must possess aesthetic excellence, emotional truth, and enduring visual pleasure.

The Pimpernel collection is intelligent, eclectic, and curated with care, meaning that you can be confident and spontaneous in your choice.

Drawing on Claire’s own artistic background, the gallery values technical mastery and originality in equal measure. Each artist represented brings something distinctive, whether through exceptional draughtsmanship, cleve use of colour, bold composition, or a striking sense of materiality.

The result is a collection that feels coherent yet delightfully varied — art that holds the viewer’s attention and rewards repeated looking.
