Lisa Daria Kennedy
About the Artist
Lisa Daria Kennedy is an American painter, illustrator, and educator whose work is rooted in the discipline of daily creation. After surviving cancer as a young adult, she committed to producing one painting every day — a practice she has continued for over 5,700 consecutive days. Many of her paintings begin with close observation of flowers, allowing the play of light, colour and negative space to inspire compositions that explore both presence, and the passage of time. Through this daily ritual, Kennedy transforms the ordinary into intimate, reflective works that reward careful looking.
Aesthetic
Kennedy’s paintings are gestural and spontaneous. Working with a limited palette and expressive mark-making, she balances figuration and abstraction, often beginning with floral forms before developing broader compositions. The resulting works highlight delicate textures, subtle shifts in colour, and the quiet rhythms of growth and decay.. Each piece invites close attention, offering viewers a sense of connection to both the natural world and the artist’s extraordinary, ongoing daily practice.
