Oxley says: I don't often paint anything especially structural in my works, although they sometimes slide in unannounced - and certainly viewers report seeing architectural objects in them on occasion. But here are some shapes reminiscent of coastal defences, perhaps even wartime ones, and certainly the poppies would align with them.
